Coaching   

The coaches of the Summerland Skating Club are members of the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) and have a valid first aid certificate and criminal clearance check.
Our Club coaches are under contract for the season and are responsible for all group instruction offered by the Club.
For individual coaching instruction, contact our Club coach. The Club coach must be fully booked before a freelance coach will be hired by the Club for any sessions.

Coaching Responsibilities

The coach has full responsibility for the development of the skater within the season in which they have been hired, including:
  1. Setting goals
  2. Determining equipment needs
  3. Suggesting lessons needed and give the skater and parent a schedule
  4. Ensuring test and competition requirements are met
  5. Ensure that each skater has forms for tests, competitions, clinics, and seminars
  6. Produce for solos and / or pairs
  7. Ensure programs are choreographed with all level requirements included
  8. Inform Parents of progress throughout the season

Booking Lessons

It is recommended that parents / guardians book a minimum of one private or semi-private lesson per week in each of the disciplines (skills, dance, free skate) with Louise Evans
Please make arrangements with the coach outside of the skating scheduled times.

We are delighted to retain our coach Louise Evans, who recently moved with her family to British Columbia from England.
Louise has been skating for  over 25 years, has been coaching back in the UK for the last 11 years, and coaching with Summerland for the last 4 years.

  • CanSkate certified
  • NCCP Certification- Provincial Certified Coach (Level 2)
  • CanPowerSkate certified
  • Had Pupils competing at National qualifying level
  • Director of Choreography for several annual shows
  • Team coach coordinator for inter-rink competitions.

She is looking forward to continuing her coaching career here at Summerland Figure Skating Club. She hopes to bring the joy and passion she has for figure skating to the younger generation
